High-Protein Ranch That Actually Taste Good
Creamy, balanced, and actually high in protein. This ranch packs roughly 40 grams of protein per batch and still tastes like real ranch — not cottage cheese pretending to be ranch.
Most “high-protein ranch” recipes taste like compromise.
You’ve had it. The kind that technically hits the macros but feels like someone blended cottage cheese and hope. It looks right. It pours right. Then you taste it and realize something went wrong.
This one doesn’t do that.
The goal here wasn’t just protein — it was balance. Real acidity. Proper seasoning. Actual herb flavor. The cottage cheese and Greek yogurt build the protein base, but they disappear once everything is blended smooth. Sour cream and a touch of light mayo bring back that familiar ranch richness. Lemon juice and vinegar cut through the dairy so it doesn’t feel heavy. Garlic, onion, dill, parsley, and chives do the heavy lifting flavor-wise.
And the quiet difference? Volume control. We blend, measure, and adjust until it lands at exactly two cups. That means your macros are predictable and repeatable.
The result is ranch that tastes like ranch — but happens to carry around 40 grams of protein in the jar.
You can dip chicken nuggets in it. You can drown a salad in it. You can put it on a burger and not feel like you wasted your protein for the day.
It’s simple. It works. And once you make it, store-bought feels unnecessary.
1 cup (8 fl oz) 2% cottage cheese
½ cup plain non-fat Greek yogurt
½ cup light sour cream
3 tbsp light mayo
5 tbsp milk
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tsp white vinegar or pickle juice
1 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp MSG (optional but recommended)
2 tbsp fresh dill, finely minced
2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely minced
2 tbsp fresh chives, finely minced
Step 1
Add all ingredients except the fresh herbs to a high-speed blender. Blend for 45–60 seconds until completely smooth and creamy.
Step 2
Stir in or briefly pulse the dill, parsley, and chives until evenly distributed.
Step 3
Pour the ranch into a liquid measuring cup and verify that it yields exactly 2 cups. If slightly under, add milk 1 teaspoon at a time and stir until you reach the full 2-cup mark.
Step 4
Refrigerate for 30–60 minutes before serving to allow flavors to fully develop.
Pro Tips
Use fresh herbs. Dried herbs won’t hit the same.
Let it rest. The flavor improves noticeably after chilling.
If you want it thicker for dipping, reduce milk slightly. For dressing consistency, increase milk by 1–2 tablespoons.
